Swantje Bartschat

Swantje Bartschat studied Arabic and Islamic Studies, European Ethnology and Religious Studies at the University of Münster. She concluded her studies with a thesis on the journey of a twelfth century hadith scholar from Isfahan to Alexandria. Afterwards she was research assistant at the Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics” in Münster and wrote her PhD on collections of Forty Hadith with a focus on anthologies dealing with Jihad. In May 2017, she joined the LOEWE Research Cluster “Religious Positioning” of the University of Frankfurt with a project on legal proceedings against Salafists.
